Baruch College
In 1919, the School of Business and Public Administration and the School of Technology were
established. Business and public administration students
studied at what was long known as "City Downtown," in a building constructed at the original Free Academy
location. Over the years its growth was so great that
eventually, in 1968, it "spun off" and became a
separate entity Baruch College, named for CCNY alumnus Bernard Baruch.
